I Wish I Was the Moon - True Blood S4 Ep 6

Rate: 2 Flag

Spirits, spirits everywhere in this latest and greatest episode of True Blood.  A full moon in Bon Temps brings out the even crazier, and Season 4 keeps getting better.
First, hats off to the reigning champions of mayhem: our little badass Bad Seed, baby Fowler-Bellefleur (who has a promising future in pyromania) and medieval Spanish witch Antonia and her vessel, Marni.  These two are not to be messed with, and they will gleefully fuck things up when needed.  Antonia is here to wreak some bloody, bloody vengeance on vampires, and I will enjoy watching it unfold.
A mysterious woman waves to baby Fowler-Bellefleur.  I wonder how it adds to this plot and whether it had something to do with Lettie Mae’s attempted exorcism.  Didn’t Lettie Mae indirectly call Maryann to Bon Temps?
Now Lafayette had an interesting turn in Mexico.  SPOILERS: seems like Jesus’s grandpa noted the potential in his grandson’s lover, and indirectly subjected him to a sorcerous sacrificial initiation by exposing Jesus to a snake bite.  Lafayette took in a benevolent spirit of someone in Jesus’s family to heal him.  I at first thought the spirit possession would be similar to Marni’s, but I noticed something interesting: Lafayette called on Yemaya, who is a Yoruba goddess present in many of the Afro-diaspora religions (Vodun, Candomble, Obeah, Santeria, etc.).  So whatever spirit was in him wasn’t fully in control and Lafayette was able to reference his own tradition.  Antonia-Marni’s power will no doubt go badly out of control, and if I had to bet Lafayette will be the one to confront her.
Dear, rotting Pam attacks now that she’s got nothing to lose, and it won’t bode well for Tara’s lover Naomi.  I think Tara’s going to need to find her inner Buffy and soon.  Meanwhile, lost little brother Tommy takes Sam’s visage and wreaks more serious trouble than any lookalike sibling from a magical 60’s sitcom.
And then, of course, what True Blood’s thousands of fans have waited for occurs.  And it occurs with Bill’s suprising sanction.  It seems domesticated Eric can move even Bill, who typically hates his guts!
Any luck on examples of Wiccan outrage, readers?

Hey now Chiller...excellent review! For some reason, I wasn't in love with this episode, although it had it's moments. I too am very interested in seeing how the Antonia/Marni connection plays out. They have some serious power over vampires which can make things real interesting real fast. I'm getting a little bored with Jason. They really need to find a direction with him. Sookie and Eric...finally!
You follow the show ... and I follow your recaps. I love the wit, tone, and irreverence of your writing and I always have a smile on my face when reading these entries.
