Day 4: Universally Disappointed

When I first saw the ads for Van Helsing , my inner kid was thrilled.  A tribute to the Universal monster classics?  Hugh Jackman, who'd proven his superheroic awesomeness several times over? A nefarious team-up between Dracula, the Wolfman and Frankenstein?  Yes please!
Sadly, what we got was a mediocre, over-CGIed mess; a lame, tepid script and  a pointless plot.  It reeks of a final product arrived at by a committee of execs with stunted imaginations demanding changes in an attempt to appeal to the masses.
On the plus side, some of its visuals weren't bad.  the action was just okay, and it was a good twist to feature Dracula's three brides in a central role (Because Dracula sure didn't impress on screen).

And now I wish I hadn't checked Wikipedia:
In May 2012 Universal Pictures announced that they are rebooting the film with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci as a two-year deal to produce a modern reimagining and Tom Cruise to star as the title character and also produce the film.[4]Rupert Sanders is in talks to direct the film.[5]

That wikipedia entry is the real horror. R
Yeah, I have to agree, Van Helsing was a huge disappointment.
"Tom Cruise to star as the title character" in any film is a prospect more horrifying than can be found in any actual horror film.
